Astellas Recognized as a Top 20 Place to Work by Chicago Tribune

Astellas was recognized as one of the top 20 large companies to work for in the Chicago area by Chicago Tribune. The list, based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics, LLC, measured several key aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution and connection. This marks Astellas’ second appearance on Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces list.

Astellas Named a Best Place to Work for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Equality for Second Consecutive Year

Astellas Pharma achieved a perfect score on the 2016 Human Rights Campaign Foundation's (HRC) annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the second consecutive year. The CEI is a national benchmarking tool used to rate companies on policies and practices concerning lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) employee equality.

Astellas Named One of America’s Best Employers in 2015 by Forbes Magazine

Astellas has been named one of America’s Best Employers in the biotechnology industry by Forbes Magazine. The list is a first of its kind for Forbes, based on a survey of over 20,000 anonymous respondents from across the country. The independent study conducted by Forbes asked individuals how likely they are to recommend their employer. The data was compiled into a list of the top 500 employers across 27 different industries.

“Astellas is constantly working to be an employer of choice for top talent around the world by providing first-rate benefits, flexible work hours and a unique, inviting and trust-centered culture,” said Collette Taylor, senior vice president, Human Resources and Facilities. “This recognition is reflective of our efforts to continually evaluate our culture and our dedication to attract, develop and retain key talent.”

Astellas Recognized as Top Employer by Professional Woman’s Magazine

Astellas was recognized in two separate categories on the 2015 “Best of the Best” employer list by Professional Women’s Magazine, a publication of DiversityComm, Inc. Astellas received the recognition both as one of the nation’s top employers for women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and also as a top employer in the healthcare, pharma and biotechnology industries.

“We are honored to be named one of the ‘Best of the Best’,” said Rod Christmon, Astellas senior director, human resources. “Recruiting diverse top talent is a cornerstone of our culture and at the heart of our success as a company.”

Newsweek Green Rankings

Astellas Climbs 34 Spots in Newsweek’s World Green Rankings

Astellas was recognized for its unwavering commitment to the environment in Newsweek’s annual 2015 Green Rankings. Of the top 500 global companies named, Astellas placed No. 177, moving up 34 spots from last year’s ranking. The Newsweek Green Rankings are one of the world's foremost corporate environmental ranking programs, which assess the largest publicly-traded companies globally on environmental footprint measures and sustainability communications.

“Astellas is committed to fulfilling its corporate social and environmental responsibilities by taking into account the needs and challenges of both present and future generations,” said Jeff Winton, senior vice president and chief communications officer, Corporate Affairs at Astellas. “This ranking is a reflection of Astellas’ ongoing commitment to sustainability.”

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s Above and Beyond Award

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s Above and Beyond Award

The Illinois Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, presented Astellas with the ESGR Above and Beyond Award in recognition of outstanding support to its employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve. The award is given in limited numbers by ESGR state committees to employers who go well above the basic requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, or USERRA, in supporting their Guard and Reserve employees and have had at least one of their supervisors or managers recognized with a Patriot Award. It is the second highest ESGR award given at the state level.

Astellas is also one of 80 Illinois employers of Guard and Reserve employees to have been nominated for the 2015 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. Nominations for the Freedom Award must come from a Guard or Reserve member who is employed by the organization they are nominating, or from a family member.

Astellas Farma Brasil named #1 Great Places to Work in the pharma industry

Astellas Farma Brasil was recognized as the number one place to work in the pharmaceutical industry. The ranking, prepared by the Great Place to Work Institute (GPTW), surveyed thousands of employees of the companies involved. For the second year, Astellas Farma Brasil was recognized for creating a culture that empowers its employees to focus on the needs of patients and customers while successfully balancing their personal lives and careers.

"Being honored by GPTW for two consecutive years is a testament to the effectiveness of our human resources practices. We had excellent results in our employee engagement surveys and human resources has a strategic role in the growth of Astellas in Brazil,” said Luiz Claudio Dutra, general manager of Astellas Farma Brasil. “We will continue to support business needs in terms of creating a suitable culture to attract, develop and retain top talent.”

CEO Cancer Gold Standard Accreditation

Astellas Pharma US earned CEO Cancer Gold Standard accreditation from the CEO Roundtable on Cancer. This accreditation recognizes Astellas' efforts to reduce the risk of cancer among its employees and their family members by establishing a tobacco-free campus and discouraging the use of tobacco products; promoting physical activity and other healthy choices, such as a healthy diet; encouraging cancer screenings to allow early detection; and ensuring access to quality healthcare.

Astellas Named One of Top Employers for Scientists

Astellas Named One of Top Employers for Scientists

The Scientist magazine has named Astellas one of the top employers for scientists. Astellas ranked No. 9 among for large companies in the 2010 survey. The magazine cited tuition reimbursement and professional development, matching of employee charity contributions, and five days per year of paid volunteer time off for all employees as reasons for the ranking. Astellas thanks all of the scientists who participated in the magazine’s online survey.
